My M1917A1 McCord
Here's my McCord Radiator M1917A1 helmet I scored at a local show at the beginning of this year. My first post here, I thought I'd share it. It's as found and is missing the round pad at the top. The attaching screw is also upside down. It's been that way for a long time. The paint is in very good shape. Now to find that top pad........

Re: My M1917A1 McCord
I'll try to answer this to the best of my knowlage.37thguy wrote:Who else made these?
The first to be updated were the WWI US leftovers.
Some were British surplus. McCord made a run in the thirty's.
Those are refered to as the M1917 A1. They had a diferent leather
liner with the round pad in the top and web chin straps. There is a
other type that is between the M1917 and the M1917 A1. I think
I've seen one. My frend who is a long time helmet collector calls them
the "Bridge". The M1917 between wars helmets were a mix of issue
what was available. Goverment spending for the military was very
down played by the folks in Washington.
That is what I know, subject to being totally wrong.
