One more rescued medic helmet
Both bails broken, but again saved from the scrap pile and with a few layers of post war painted removed. What's nice about this one: has the guy's initials and girlfriend's name painted inside. That's why I felt compelled to get it.
Not mint, but still nice to get in my opinion.

Not mint, but quite in good condition!
I really like it.
I can't read the girlfriend name... but could it be the name of the owner, a nurse???

Re: One more rescued medic helmet
Hi Fred, the female's name is Luzia, popular here in Brazil in the first part of the XX century due to the devotion to Saint Luzia.
Girlfriend's names were really popular in helmets attributed to 1st Brazilian Medical Battalion (which per regulations had two medic panels painted). I have a roster of the unit and also found a corporal with these initials. Also, the Brazilian nurses did not adopt the practice of painting helmets. I'm beginning to like the names inside even more than the outside markings.
Regards,
Cesar.

didn't notice it is a "Brazilian" helmet!
That's great you managed to trace the soldier, makes it more interesting!

Re: One more rescued medic helmet
Thanks again. In all there were about some 30 medic helmets in the pile and hundreds of unmarked ones. I was lucky to get a few of them, and there may be more to be found in ensuing forays. All you have to do is dodge the stray bullets while you search for the helmets in Rio.
