Double stamped M-1 liner
Just bought two Inland liners yesterday. One is right as rain with a nice dark green smooth paint job, unpainted A washers and chin strap studs, early wire buckle sweatband.
The other is a double stamped Inland with the Firestone emblem superimposed over it. It has later blackened A washers and what appears to be either a repaint or just a heavy coat of OD, the proper color though. There is some type of clear epoxy type varnish or dried liquid on the inside rim area.
My understanding is that the Inland molds were used by Firestone after the Inland Mfg Co stopped making liners. What I don't know is if this is a 2d outer paint job and if the stuff on the inside is part of the original manufacturing process of fiddled with at a later point. Looks to me as if it was part of the original process and this one was just sloppy?
My questions are:
1) what is the value on a double marked INLAND/FIRESTONE liner
2) Is this a repaint
3) Opinions on the resin/varnish material on the inside
4) What can I use to clean the corrosion off of the A washers and not hurt the webbing
Thanks for any assistance.

Have you made any attempt to try and remove the spots/drips?,hot water is always a start or try to lightly scratch with your fingernail to see if it is on surface or part of finish. If it is resin based, any attempts with thinners and such would likely ruin the surface ..just my few cents worth.

Hello,
my feelings:
1) no more, no less than a regular Firestone. Inland/firestone liners are a nive variation but not thate scarce.
2) according to the pictures, yes
3) not an idea
4) try vinegar. Carefully avoid to stain the suspension!

Re: Double stamped M-1 liner
Vinegar is an option, but any liquid that close to the suspension is risky, perhaps try a pencil eraser or even better some very fine steel wool from a paint store or home center[sherwin williams, home depot ect]values I can't comment on..but if you want something bad enough as we all have seen on bleedbay and such, value is in the eye of the beholder.tweedie wrote:37thguy wrote:My questions are:
